My wife and I have been metal detecting since March 2002, and at this time we are still learning the basics of the hobby and how to use the equipment. We use a Tesoro Cortes detector and have found it to be everything is it cracked up to be. It is far more capable than we are at this point. We have joined the Montgomery County Artifacts Recovery Club and have met quite a few folks that have been very helpful in getting us started.
I recently competed in a competition hunt that one of our members put on at his place. While I was nowhere near as successful as many of the other members, I more than paid for my entry fee with the coins I collected and the prizes that I won. My wife and I tend to stay near the house when hunting, but we have ventured as far as Houston to hunt some prime property down there.
