Welcome! The MCARC is a non-profit club that has been meeting the needs of the metal detecting hobbyists in and around Montgomery County for twenty years.
We are a family oriented group with many husband and wife teams, as well as several children that are involved along with their parents. Anyone interesting in metal detecting, bottle collecting, coinshooting, treasure hunting, etc is encouraged to join us for fun and education. Whether you have been swinging a coil for 25 years or have never even picked up a detector, if you have an interest in the hobby we have an interest in you.
We meet once a month on the third Thursday at the Robinson Road Community Center on the corner of Robinson Road & Hannah Road. From either direction on I-45 exit at the Woodlands Pkwy/Robinson Road exit and go east to the end of the street; approx 1/2 mile. The community building will be on the right hand corner of the intersection.
Members begin gathering a little after 7 pm and the meeting will get underway promptly at 7:30 pm. We will have a short break for refreshments half way through the meeting.
At each meeting we discuss old and new club business, opportunities to hunt (metal detect), enjoy a presentation by a member or outside presenter, and judge the finds of the members for the prior month.
Dues are $25 for a single, or $30 for a full family.
Recent Event: At our meeting of May 16th, Sgt Butch Emmons of the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department Crime Lab spoke to us regarding the use of metal detectors by law enforcement agencies. Sgt Emmons spoke on his own past experiences as a Crime Scene Investigator and his personal use of a detector to help obtain evidence crucial to solving cases. He also discussed how we as club members can assist him during crime scene searches when guns, bullets, knives, or other metallic objects need to be located. As a result, several members signed up for this volunteer duty and are on call to assist him as the need arises.
