Innovation Lab Fellowships to Fight Child Sexual Exploitation

October 22, 2014

2 Minute Read

Every day, millions of images and videos of child abuse are being circulated around the Internet. As you read this, there are children who are being sold for sex through advertisements somewhere else on the Deep Web.

Thorn’s core mission is to use technology to end this cycle of abuse – and today we’re announcing the Thorn Innovation Lab, a new program that will tap into the best and brightest minds in technology to help us stay one step ahead of those seeking to exploit children.

Funding One-Year Fellowships to Fight Child Abuse Online

Our new Innovation Lab is offering multiple one-year fellowships for talented, passionate individuals with specific expertise in data science, engineering and other technical areas. These individuals will have the opportunity to lend their talent to create new approaches, improve current programs and engage in blue-sky thinking about how to stop the abuse and trafficking of children.

Thorn Fellows will manage cutting-edge projects within the Thorn Innovation Lab, giving them the unique opportunity to apply their skills, expertise and passions to directly impact the lives of some of the most vulnerable children.

Leveraging Thorn’s Resources and Partners to Build New Tools

Thorn Fellows will have access to Thorn’s network of partners in the fight against child sexual exploitation, including engineers and data scientists from top tech companies that make up the Thorn Tech Task Force.

We have also gathered some of the brightest minds in technology to join our Innovation Lab’s advisory board and provide the support and collaboration our fellows need. Each fellow will be assigned an industry-leading mentor from this Advisory Board, from whom they will receive guidance, vision and career development support.

If you’re interested in applying, please visit the Thorn Innovation Lab page to learn more. Application deadline is November 14th.
